Miss. Madelyn Bates

Fifth Grade Teacher

Miss Bates brings energy, empathy, and a deep commitment to student growth to the classroom. A former collegiate athlete and student mentor, she has developed a reputation for leadership, clear communication, and the ability to build strong relationships with students. A graduate of Randolph Macon College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in History, Miss Bates is finalizing her graduate work in education at St. Francis University. Additionally, she is a beloved behavior specialist at Camp Kids Place, at Cherrydale Baptist Church

During her academic training, Miss Bates completed internships and fieldwork across both Virginia and Pennsylvania, gaining hands-on experience in general and special education classrooms. Through work at schools like The New Community School and Hermitage High School, she developed a keen understanding of differentiated instruction and supporting students with diverse learning needs.

As a New Student Transition Leader at Randolph-Macon College, Miss Bates guided first-year students through their adjustment to college life, offering mentorship, individualized support, and encouragement, skills that now translate powerfully into her work with younger students.
